        A Mountain Boy

The Youngest Indian boy to reach Mount Everest Base Camp

        My Story
      • I am Akshaj Udaiwal. I started my mountain journey when I was mere four-year-old when I accompanied my Mother to Muktinath Temple visit in Nepal which is at 3800 metre above sea level. And, then my mother took me on hiking to the mountains of Oman for a year which helped me in understanding the basics of climbing.

My mentor, Colonel Pradeep Bist,SM identified my unique ability and trained me in honing my mountaineering skills which helped me in successfully scaling the Chandrashila summit in Uttarakhand. This earned me a place in ‘The India Book of Records’ wherein I was conferred with the Honour of Appreciation.

I achieved scaling the summits of the twin feats Mount Nangakarshang (5,077 metres above sea level) on 28th April 2022 and Mount Everest Base Camp (5,364 metres above sea level) on 30th April 2022 in Nepal under the watchful supervision of Lt. Colonel Romil Barthwal (Retd.). This feat earned me the title ‘Youngest to climb Mount Nangakarshang in
Asia’ by Asia Book of Records and in India by India Book of Records at the age of 6 years 11 months.

I also hold the distinction of being the youngest person to reach the base camp of Mount Everest at the age of 6 years and 11 months. Furthermore, I am recognized by the India Book of Records as the youngest Indian boy to reach the base camp of Mount Ararat, which is situated in Turkey at an altitude of 4200 meters above sea level.

I feel like mountain climbing came naturally to me by the grace of god and his blessings.

My sincere thanks to my Mentors and the people who I met in my Mountain journey without them I wouldn’t have achieved these accolades.
